PDO Thread Treatment
The Minimally Invasive Nonsurgical Thread Lift (also known as PDO Threads) is here!
PDO Threads are a minimally invasive treatment to treat facial laxity. PDO Threads are an advancement in non-surgical facial rejuvenation. By stimulating the production of collagen, they are tightening and lifting the contours of the face to give the jawline definition, reduce the nasolabial folds and help improve the appearance of minor wrinkles.
The PDO Threads can be used to treat or improve
- The jowls — This refers to loose skin that develops along the jawline and lower cheeks, creating a sagging appearance. PDO threads help lift and reposition the skin, reducing the appearance of jowls for a more sculpted effect.
- Nasolabial folds — These deep creases running from the nose to the corners of the mouth can become more pronounced over time. PDO threads provide support to soften these lines for smoother-looking skin.
- Facial skin laxity — As collagen production declines, the skin loses its firmness and elasticity. PDO threads stimulate collagen renewal to help keep the skin plump.
- Tightening the neck — Over time, the skin on the neck loses elasticity, leading to a drooping or crepey appearance. MINT™ can help smooth fine lines and restore a firmer, more lifted look.
- Give jawline definition — PDO threads help define jawline contours by creating a more sculpted appearance, refining the natural V shape of the lower half of the face is improved

Who is a suitable candidate for MINT™ thread lift?
A PDO MINT™ thread lift is a good option for those looking for a non-surgical way to refresh their skin. Ideal candidates typically:
- Are between 30 and 50 years old, as their skin still has good elasticity and collagen production.
- Are in good overall health, with a strong immune system to support healing and long-lasting results.
- Has mild to moderate skin laxity, particularly around the cheeks, jawline or neck.
- Do not smoke, as smoking can slow healing and affect collagen production.
Contraindications for MINT™ thread lift
This treatment may not be recommended for individuals who:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have a bacterial, viral or fungal infection at the treatment site.
- Have been diagnosed with haemophilia or a malignant blood disease.
- Are taking anticoagulants, hypoglycaemic drugs or other medications that impair wound healing.
- Have hepatitis, HIV or syphilis.
If you’re not an eligible candidate, we’ll explore alternative treatments that better align with your needs.
What to expect during your initial consultation
A thorough discussion with our team is a crucial first step in PDO thread lift. During your first meeting, our clinicians will:
- Assess your skin — We evaluate your facial structure, concerns and the extent of skin laxity to form a treatment plan that is unique to your goals.
- Review your medical history — If you’re considering a thread lift, it’s crucial to disclose any underlying health conditions, medications or allergies beforehand. This lets us pinpoint possible issues and ensure a smooth recovery.
- Explain the process — We’ll walk you through the treatment, potential risks, expected results and answer any questions you may have.
Note that treatment results may vary from person to person. Several factors can influence the outcome, including individual skin characteristics, lifestyle habits and age.
Potential risks and side effects of a PDO MINT™ thread lift
As with any cosmetic treatment, a PDO MINT™ thread lift can have some side effects:
- Temporary swelling and bruising that typically fade within a few days to a week.
- Mild pain or pressure as the threads are placed, though local anaesthesia or numbing cream may be used to minimise discomfort.
- Tenderness or soreness in the treated area.
- Minor dimpling or small surface depressions may appear but often improve as the skin adjusts.
- In rare cases, threads may shift from their original placement, potentially affecting facial symmetry.
- Threads may become visible or palpable under the skin, resulting in an uneven texture.
- Threads can sometimes weaken or snap either during placement or after the treatment, which may require correction.
- Infection at the insertion points where the threads are placed.
- Allergic reaction to the thread material.
If unusual symptoms occur or side effects persist, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Caring for your skin after a MINT™ thread lift
Following your treatment, our clinicians will provide detailed instructions to help you manage discomfort and post-treatment effects. These include but are not limited to:
- Refraining from strenuous activities, intense exercise and heavy lifting for at least 24 hours to allow your body to recover.
- Avoiding alcohol, smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke for at least 72 hours after the procedure.
- Sleeping on your back (supine position) for the next three to five days to prevent pressure on the treated area.
- Waiting at least a month before undergoing any dental treatments.
- Avoiding deep facial massage treatments for at least six months to prevent the threads from shifting.
- Postponing laser therapy and other intensive facial treatments for at least one month to allow proper healing.
- Applying a cold compress intermittently during the first 24 hours to reduce pain and inflammation. Gently place it on the swollen areas for about 30 minutes at a time.
- Avoiding blood-thinning medications unless prescribed by your doctor.
